Mrs. Katie Haley Goodwin, 91, of Dalton, died Wednesday, July 30, 2008.
She was the daughter of the late, B. J. and Fannie Haley and was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Monroe Goodwin in 2001;her brother, Doyal Haley and sister, Frances Roberts.
She was a member of the Dawnville Homemakers Club, lifelong member of Harmony Baptist Church and was a volunteer for Hamilton Medical Center for 23 years.
Katie is survived by her daughter, Karen Ismail of Dalton; grandson, Majid Ismail of Dalton; very special friend, Billy Hunt of Mississippi; sisters, Gracie Holland of Dalton, Helen Sheets of Calhoun, Phoebe Whitfield of Augusta, Ga., Mabel Finch of Soddy Daisy, Tn. and adopted sister/special lifelong friend, Betty Cowart of Covington; brother, Paul Haley of Rome; numerous nieces, nephews and very special friends also survive.
Special thanks to our neighbors and church family, also to caregiver, Kim Frye at Amedysis Home Health and Adventa Hospice Services.
Services will be Saturday at 1 P.M. in the Chapel of Love Funeral Home with the Dr. James Boyd, the Dr. Randy Smith and the Rev. Oscar Michaels officiating.
Burial will follow in Dawnville United Methodist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Love Funeral Home Saturday from 11 to 1 P.M.
Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the Georgia Baptist Children’s Home, P.O. Box 329, Palmetto, Ga. 30268.
