Marie Cope

Ms. Marie Vaughn Walker Cope, of Dalton, passed away on September 4, 2008 following a long, brave battle with cancer.
She was preceeded in death by her parents, Samuel and Thelma Vaughn; brothers Darryl, Gentry, Gregory and Jeffrey Vaughn; sister Kayren Burns; and daughter Wendy Marie Walker.
A native and lifelong resident of Dalton, Marie graduated from the Dalton High School Class of 1960. Later in life, she pursued a career in beauty and fashion as owner of Designing Women Boutique and Salon in Downtown Dalton.
Marie is remembered as a beautiful, humble, elegant, courageous, strong spirit, loyal friend and above all, as a most loving mother.
Marie is survived by her children; Ms. Hollie Cope of Dalton and Mr. Mitchell Cope of Dalton; sister and brother-in-law, Bernice Spangler and Pastor Steve Spangler of Dalton; aunt , Ms. Marie Gentry Phillips, of Dalton; cousin, Ms. Norma Gentry of Atlanta; special friends and relatives, Mr. Bill Walls of Chatsworth; The Phillips Family of Dalton; The Walker Family of Dalton; and The Cope Family of Dalton.
Her children would also like to thank special friends, Ada Coker, Louise Moore, Rochelle Frazier, Jane Carter and all of the special friends and relatives who have so kindly assisted the family.
The family will be receiving friends at Love Funeral Home in Dalton from 5:00 PM - 9:00 PM on Friday, September 5, 2008.
A private graveside service at Grove Level Cemetery will be officiated by Pastor Steve Spangler on Saturday.
