Ruby Bates

Mrs. Ruby Ball Bates, 90, of Dalton, passed away Sunday September 7, 2008 at Wood Dale Health Care.
She was the daughter of the late, John and Rena Ball of Dalton. Mrs. Bates was a life-long resident of Dalton and of the Baptist faith. She was a long-time employee of Queen Carpets and joyfully served as a Hamilton Medical Center Volunteer for twenty-two years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Archie M. Bates; brother, Frank J. Ball; and step-mother, Minnie Lowery Ball.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, John M. and Betty Bates of Dalton; grandchildren and spouses, Elizabeth Michel Bates of Adairsville, GA., Morris and Laura Bates of Chevy Chase, MD., and Warner and Allison McConaughey of Atlanta, GA; great-grandchildren, Zadie and Wilson McConaughey of Atlanta, Keelin and John Bates of Chevy Chase, MD.
Services will be Thursday at 2 P.M. in the Chapel of Love Funeral Home with Nancy L. Garrison, H.M.C. chaplain, officiating.
Burial will follow in West Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Love Funeral Home Thursday from 12:30 until the funeral hour at 2 P.M.
