Mrs. Stella Roberts Boyles, 96, of Dalton, died Sunday, September 7, 2008 at her residence in Royal Oaks.
She was the widow of the late, Harry M. Boyles and was preceded in death by her sister, Mary Lou Roberts in 2007.
Mrs. Boyles had been an active member of the First Baptist Church since 1928, where she had served in many positions including Deacon, Superintendent of the Junior Department in Sunday School, Trustee, and Adult Sunday School teacher. After retirement, she participated in many mission trips arranged by the church and also taught a Sunday School class in a local nursing home for 7 years and helped to organize “Back your Bible Classes” in Edinburg, Scotland. She was employed as a supervisor at Evans Manufacturing Co. from 1941 to 1974, and was a member of the Pilot Club of Dalton, having served two terms as president of the club.
Stella is survived by many special friends, caregivers, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Services will be Wednesday at 11 A.M. from the First Baptist Church of Dalton with the Dr. Bill Wilson, the Dr. Billy Nimmons, the Rev. Phillip Cannon and the Rev. Larry Flanagan officiating.
Burial will follow in West Hill Cemetery with Charles Hendry, Dewey Hughes, Paul Henson, Allen Pettway, Bates Bailey and Roger Jewell serving as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends in the atrium of the church Wednesday from 10 until the funeral hour at 11 A.M.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to the First Baptist Church of Dalton, P.O. Box 827, Dalton, Ga. 30722-0827.
