Mr. Lamar Wilson, 84, of Dalton, passed away Sunday, September 28, 2008 at Hamilton Medical Center.
He was the son of the late, Wallace and Lena Hannah Wilson and was preceded in death by his brothers and sisters, Juanita Warmack, J.C. Wilson, Marie Wilson, John Wesley Wilson, Byron Wilson and Martha Wilson.
He was the assistant scout master of Troop 62 at Trintiy United Methodist Church from 1971 to 1996 and was awarded scouting’s highest adult award, “The Silver Beaver award.”
Lamar is survived by his wife of 58 years, Mary Martha Williams Wilson of Dalton; daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Bill Scarborough of Lagrange, Ga.; son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Denise Wilson of Lagrange, Ga.; grandchildren, Robert Wilson, Brian Wilson, Karen Connelley and Brannen Scarborough; great-grandchildren and nieces also survive.
Services will be Tuesday at 11 A.M. from the Varnell United Methodist Church with the Rev. James Gwin and Layleader Charlie Eicholtz officiating.
Burial will follow in Varnell Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Love Funeral Home Monday from 5 to 8 P.M. and from 10 to 11 A.M. on Tuesday at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Boy Scout’s of America, Troop 62 at Trinity United Methodist Church, 901 Veterans Dr., Dalton, Ga. 30721 or to Varnell United Methodist Church, P.O Box 307, Varnell, Ga. 30756.
