Mr. Joseph “Rick” Richard Henderson, 63, of Hendersonville, Tennessee, passed away on Sunday, July 13, 2014 at his residence.
He was born December 10, 1950 in Dalton, Georgia to the late Jake and Betty Sue Smith Henderson.
A veteran of the US Army, Rick was a graduate of the University of Tennessee Knoxville in 1972 and retired after 20+ years of service as a driver for UPS. He loved the God of Heaven and took great pride in serving him. He was a deacon of the Hendersonville Seventh-Day Adventist Church and was involved with personal ministries at the church. He was a volunteer for Health-Hope Ministries as a camera man and audio tech. He was an avid reader and a member of the Antique Car Club in Hendersonville and the Model Railroad Association. He was a kind and loving father and husband who will be missed greatly by friends and family.
Rick is survived by his wife, Julie Escue Henderson of Hendersonville, TN; two sons, Zach Henderson of Anchorage, AK and Robert Henderson (Caitlin Owen) of Hubert, NC; daughter, Katherine (Jesse) Saville of Fort Lewis, WA; step-son, Daniel Armstrong of Hendersonville, TN; two step-daughters, Andra Armstrong (Delton Chen) of Sanford, FL. and Sara (Tim) Holloway of Hendersonville, TN; sister, Jan (Gary) Chaffee of Kennesaw, GA. and grandson, Noah Saville; many cousins and nieces and nephews also survive.
Graveside services will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at West Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the graveside.
