The Rev. Dr. Mickey Shealy, devoted husband, father and beloved minister of ChristChurch Presbyterian of Dalton went home to be with his lord and savior on Thursday, October 30, 2014. A memorial service will be held on November 3rd at 12:00 p.m. at ChristChurch Presbyterian. The family will receive friends in the fellowship hall of the Church after the service.
He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Denise Whitt Shealy; daughter, Keri Shealy of Athens, Ga; sons, Whitt and Philip Shealy of Dalton, Ga.; future son-in-law, Brandon Patrick of Athens, GA; parents, Patricia and Russell Shealy of Lexington, SC; in-laws, JoLynn and Mack Calhoun of Greenwood, SC and Dennis and Judy Whitt of Greenwood, SC ; sister and brother-in-law Ellen and Daryl Farmer of Gilbert, SC; and sister and brother-in-law Cindy and Bill Clark of Orangeburg, SC; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Craig and Lisa Whitt of Abbeville, SC.
A talented high school football player, Mickey earned a college football scholarship and graduated from Wofford College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1986. It was at Wofford that he met the love of his life Denise. Mickey also attended Columbia Theological seminary graduating with a Master of Divinity degree in 1999. Mickey attended and graduated from the University of Dubuque Theological seminary with a doctorate of Ministry in 2008.
In 1999 Mickey was ordained as the pastor of First Presbyterian Church of Gallatin, TN and served there until 2007. In 2007 Mickey and his family moved to Dalton, Ga where Mickey served as the pastor of ChristChurch Presbyterian.
