Mr. A. J. Gobble, 74, of Dalton, passed away Friday October 17, 2008 at Erlanger Medical Center.
He was the son of the late, Raymond and Violet McDoniel Gobble and was preceded in death by a daughter, Kim Gobble Harris. A. J. was a veteran of the United States Army and owned and operated Lakeland Truck Service for 25 Years.
He is survived by his wife Mary Lou Gobble of Dalton; sons David (Susan) Hammontree of Knoxville, Gary (Shannon) Hammontree of Ringgold; Daughter Melissa Gobble of TN; sisters, Etta Mae Edgemon of Cleveland and Elois Grindle of Hixson; brothers, Ray Gobble of SC, Fay Gobble and Dale Gobble both of Cleveland; grandchildren, Tera (Stephen) Green, Tabatha (Jason) Whittle, Chris Brown, Andy Evans, Blake Evans, Nicholas Hammontree, Samantha Harris and Shelby Hammontree; great-grandchildren, Anderson Whittle, Jackson Whittle, Madison Whittle and Charlie Whittle; a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 2 P. M. Monday in the Chapel of Love Funeral Home with Dr. John Looper and the Rev. Frank Laster officiating.
Burial will follow in United Memorial Gardens with American Legion Post #112 in charge of Military Honors.
The family will receive friends at Love Funeral Home Sunday from 4 to 8 P.M.
