Mr. Peter J. McKone, Jr., 85, of Dalton, passed away Sunday, October 26, 2008.
He was the son of the late, Peter J. McKone, Sr and Rose Campbell McKone and was preceded in death by his wife, Adele F. McKone; brother, Leo McKone.
Peter was a veteran of the United States Air Force during WWII, where he served in Europe as a navigator on a B-24, and worked his entire life in the textile industry.
He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Elizabeth and Richard George of Asheville, NC., sons and daughters-in-law, Bob and Beverley McKone of Asheville, Kevin and Marsha McKone, David and Patty McKone all of Dalton; daughter and son-in-law, Rosemary and Murray Bandy of Dalton; brother, Vincent McKone of Southern Pines, NC; grandchildren, Alison McKone, Ryan George, Tyler Bandy, Judson Bandy, Mable McKone, Christina Bartley, Jason Bartley and his son Grayson Bartley.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday at 10:30 A. M. at the St. Joseph Catholic Church with father, J. D. Trujillo officiating.
Burial will follow in West Hill Cemetery.
An Irish Wake to honor Pete will be held at the Dalton Golf and Country Club Tuesday, October 28 from 5:30 to 7 P.M. All friends and family are invited. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to one’s favorite charity.
The family offers their sincere appreciation to the sitters and close friends, who loved and helped sustain Pete over the last few years.
