Mr. Cecil Ray Carpenter, 73, of Cohutta passed away Sunday, November 30, 2014 at his residence.
He was born on September 4, 1941, son of the late Ray Carpenter and Elsie Ford Carpenter and was preceded in death by his sister, Judy G. Mauldin.
Cecil was retired from E.I. Dupont and was a member of the N.W. Sr. Golf Association and Nob North Golf Association as well as a past member of the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association.
He is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Lynn Weigle Carpenter of Cohutta; son, Christopher Ray Carpenter of Sugar Valley, GA; daughter, Cathy Ann Carpenter of Charlotte, NC; step-son and wife, John and Katrina Ramsey of Ft. Myers, FL; sisters and brother-in-law, Rachel and Butch Stine of Charlotte, NC, Joyce Carpenter of Belmont, NC; brother and sister-in-law, John and Shirley Carpenter of Monroe, NC; grandchildren, Sarah Victoria Carpenter, Anne Morgan Carpenter and William Bain Carpenter; step-grandchildren, Sydney Rene Ramsey and John Alexander (Trey) Ramsey III; nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life service for Cecil Carpenter will be held Thursday at 1 p.m. at the Dalton First United Methodist Church with Dr. Robin Lindsey officiating.
The family will receive friends in the atrium of the church on Thursday from
12 to 1 p.m.
Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the Dalton First United Methodist Church, 500 N. Thornton Ave, Dalton, Ga. 30720.
