Mr. H. Morton Judd, beloved husband and brother, went home to be with his Savior and Lord, Jesus Christ, October 28, 2008 after an extended illness. He died naturally at his home at the age of 86. Family and friends rejoice that he is at peace now and he will be greatly missed.
Morton was born in Richmond, VA. August 8, 1922, the only son of M. Hubert and Kathryn J. Judd and the grandson of Morton E. and Lenna G. Judd all of Dalton and William F. and Sara Atkinson Jones of Wake County, N.C. and he was preceded in death by a sister, Lenna Judd.
Morton lived in Dalton all his life. He attended and graduated from the McCallie School in Chattanooga, TN. where he received the E. White Patton mathematics medal and the W.E. Brock chemistry medal. He was accepted for admission to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology at the age of 16 and graduated with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He served in the U.S. Navy Submarines, receiving his commission in the Cathedral of St. John the Divine, New York City. After two years service, he was a dance instructor at the Arthur Murray Dance Studio for a year in New York City, returning to Dalton in 1948 where he worked as a civil engineer.Morton always had a love for the Judd house where he grew up, his antique cars, his stamp collection, his paintings and the love for his dogs, Buttons and Shish and his cats, Susie and Tiger.
Morton is survived by his wife, Barbara Ann Brown Judd of Dalton; sister, Jane Judd Deck of Chickamauga, GA.; sister-in-law, and brother-in-law, Pat and Glenn Jennings of Resaca and a special friend, Clarence Tolbert.
The family would like to say a special THANK YOU to Amedisys Hospice of Dalton.
Services for Morton Judd will be Friday at 2 P.M. in the chapel of Love Funeral Home with Brother George McCormick and Chaplain J. Dwight Wilson officiating.
Burial will be in West Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the Love Funeral Home Thursday from 5 to
8 P.M.
