He began to play the dulcimer in recent years with the Dalton Dulcimer Group and enjoyed preforming at area long term health care facilities and special events.
He was a highly respected man in the community, where he was loved and adored by many people. Mike retired from Shaw Industries in 2007. His years of dedicated employment at Queen Carpet (and later Shaw Industries) yielded a bounty of close-knit friends. Mike was a 1967 graduate of Georgia Tech with a degree in Industrial Management; he tremendously enjoyed his Georgia Tech circle of friends, and shared his alumni ties with both of his sons who also attended Georgia Tech.
