Lena Mae Miller, 84, of Kokomo; formerly of Georgia, died at 2:26 PM Sunday, January 4, 2009 in Waterford Place Health Campus, Kokomo. Born in Taylorsville, GA on April 25, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Floyd Lester Fowler and Lenora Josephine Cagle. In November 1946 in Lexington, KY, she married Gordon Lee Miller, and he preceded her in death in October of 1982. She was a member of both the Church of God of the Union Assembly in Kokomo and Dalton for over sixty years. She was active in women's committees and sang.
Survivors include one son, Lester Miller of Charleston, TN; one daughter, Joan L. (husband-Harold) Stout of Kokomo; three step-sons, Rev. Jerry Miller of Knoxville, TN, Robert Miller and G. Edward Miller, both of Jonesboro, GA; Step Daughter, Pauline Miller of Georgia; four sisters, Jeanette (husband-Buddy) Davenport of Kingston, GA, Betty (husband-Lee) Millican of Summerville, GA, Lynn Kurtz of Douglasville, GA , Shirley Flowers of Kingston, GA; three brothers, Buck (wife-Margaret) Fowler of Cartersville, GA, Jack Fowler of GA, Thomas (wife-Clemmie) Fowler of Kingston, GA; grandchildren, Paula (Jody) Burnette, Yna Compton, Ryan (Debbie) Miller, Kim (Randy) Harrison, Stephanie Miller, April (Scott) Miller, Lisa (Bishop Jay) Pratt, and Lee (Amber) Stout. There are also numerous great and great great grandchildren and step grand and great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sons Johnny and Charlie Miller; sister and brother-in-law Virginia and R. L. Benefield; brother-in-law Paul Flowers, nephew Jimmy Benefield; step daughter Hulda Mae Miller; and step son, Mort Miller.
Services will be 10:00 A.M. Monday, January 12, 2009 at The Church of God of the Union Assembly in Dalton, GA. Burial will follow in West Hill Cemetery, Dalton, GA. The family will receive friends from 4-8 PM, Thursday, January 8, 2009 at Ellers Mortuary Webster Street Chapel, 3400 S. Webster Street, Kokomo, IN; also 4-8 PM, Sunday, January 11, 2009 at Love Funeral Home, 1402 N. Thornton Avenue, Dalton, GA.
