Vernon Hubert Smith

Mr. Vernon Hubert Smith, 80, of Dalton, departed this life Thursday August 13, 2015 at Hamilton Medical Center.

Vernon was born December 29, 1934 in Whitfield County, a son of the late Hubert W. and Edith King Smith. He was also preceded in death by a brother William Lamar “Bulldog” Smith in 2011.

He is survived by his wife, Saeko Sakamoto Smith; sons, Jeffrey Thomas Smith and girlfriend Denise Boyd of Dover, PA and Dale Curtis Smith of Dalton; grandchildren, Aaron (Mandy) Smith and Austin Smith both of Dover; sister and brother-in-law, Carolyn and Wayne Farlett ; brother and sister-in-law, Larry and Regina Smith; sister-in-law, Rosa Lee Smith all of Dalton; nieces and nephews; the family would like to say thank you to a special friend and caregiver, for several years, Rufus Albritton of Chattanooga, Tn.

At Vernon’s request, services and burial will be at the Chattanooga National Cemetery on Tuesday at 1:30 p.m.

The family asks that flowers please be omitted and memorials be made to the American Cancer Society, 200 West Emery St., Suite 3, Dalton, GA 30720.
