Charlie Mcdaniel

Mr. Charles J. McDaniel, Jr., 70, of Cartersville, GA formerly of Snellville, GA passed away Saturday, October 10, 2015 at Mount Berry Hospice, Rome, GA surrounded by family. He was the son of the late Charles J. McDaniel, Sr. and Hazel Oakes McDaniel. Charlie was born December 12, 1944 in Decatur, GA and graduated from Southwest Dekalb High School and attended Georgia Institute of Technology. As a young man Charlie was a Boy Scout and earned the distinction of an Eagle Scout. In 1968 he started with I. Arnold Hoge Associates. He became President in 1991. He was a member of The BYO organization, GAEL & Nemra. Charlie loved spending time with this family, attending church, golfing, fishing and had a great passion for music. Charlie is survived by his wife of 20 years, Flo Crider McDaniel of Cartersville, GA; children and their spouses, Chuck & Dara McDaniel of Monticello, GA, Chad & Meg McDaniel of Charlotte, NC, Leigh McDaniel and partner Michelle Schmitt of Atlanta, GA, Shetta & Chris Taylor of Dalton, GA; Sister, Dale McDaniel Cooper of Dallas, TX; grandchildren, Josh Bennett, Devin McDaniel, Chelsea (Shane) Long, Morgan McDaniel, Katie McDaniel, Evan Taylor and Ethan Taylor; great-grandchildren, Austin Bennett, Connor Hughey, Jonathan Hunter, Evan Long and Gavin Bennett; special nephew and niece, Jonathan Cooper and Carrington Cooper Byers both of Dallas, TX. Other nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday from Church of God of the Union Assembly with the Rev. Stoney Kiser, the Rev. Rocklan Hughes and the Rev. Stan Shirah officiating. The family will receive friends at Love Funeral Home on Monday from 5 to 9 p.m. Charlie will lie-in-state at the Church on Tuesday from noon until the funeral hour at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to The Bluefield Project to Cure Frontotemporal Dementia (Picks Disease), 1650 Owens St. Room 205, San Francisco, CA 94158.
