Mr. J. Calvin Shaw, 72, of Dalton, GA passed away Sunday, October 18, 2015. He was born in Traveler’s Rest, SC. He was the son of the Reverend J. Sam Shaw and Nelle McClain Shaw. Mr. Shaw graduated from Auburn University in 1965 and served as an officer in the United States Coast Guard from 1966 through 1969, during which he was stationed in Houston, Texas and Yorktown, Virginia. He spent his professional career in the textile chemical industry, finishing his career as Vice President and General Manager of Fibro Chem, Inc. in 2009. He has been a member of First Baptist Church since December, 1970, and taught Sunday School for most of these years. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Aubrey V. Shaw. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Jane White Shaw; his son and daughter-in-law, Scott and Alison Shaw of Chattanooga, TN; his daughter and son-in-law, Janet and Austin King of Dalton, GA; his grandchildren, Morgan & McClain Shaw and Hadley & Hudson King; and his brother, J. Nick Shaw of Augusta, GA. Members of the Calvin Shaw Sunday School class are honorary pallbearers. Funeral services will be held at First Baptist Church Dalton on Tuesday October 20th at 2 p.m. with the Reverend Dr. Bill Ireland officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:00pm-2:00pm in the atrium of the church In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to First Baptist Church, P.O.
