R. Laurance Cross

Mr. R. Laurance Cross, 76, of Chatsworth, GA., passed away Thursday, March 5, 2009 at Hamilton Medical Center.
He was the son of the late, Rev. Frank Moore Cross, Sr and Mary Ellison Cross.
Lawrence retired from the Y.M.C.A. after 35 years of service; was a member of the Dalton First Presbyterian Church, where he was an officer in the church and chairman of the Rec. Committee. He was a past member of the Rotary Club.
He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Lois B. Cross of Chatsworth; daughter and son-in-law, Martha and Darrell Carver of Chatsworth; son and daughter-in-law, Dr. Robert L. Cross, Jr. and Terri of Portland OR.; sister and brother-in-law, Grace Ellen and Bill Chalker of Sonoma, CA.; brother and sister-in-law, Dr. Frank M. Cross and Betty Ann of Rochester, NY.; grandchildren, Courtney Brooke Carver, Robert Blake Carver and Jason Plourd; nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 11 A. M. Saturday at the Dalton First Presbyterian Church with Dr. Mickey Shealy and the Rev. Tyler Downing officiating.
Graveside service and burial will be 2 P.M. C. S. T at Bethel Cemetery (Keel Hollow Rd) in New Hope, Al.
The family will receive friends at Love Funeral Home Friday from 5 to 7 P.M.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Dalton First Presbyterian Church, 510 S. Tibbs Rd., Dalton, GA. 30720 or to one’s favorite charity.
