Henry C. Wood

Mr. Henry Wood, 93, of Dalton and formerly of Atlanta, passed away, Thursday April 2, 2009.
He was the son of the late, Lewis and Fannie Jones Wood and was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ellen Posey Wood; sisters, Mary Ruth Arnold, Willie Davis, Vivian Stewart, Cecil Bramblett and Jessie Lee Wood; brothers, L. N. Wood and Charles Jr. Wood.
Henry graduated from Berry High School in 1939, and was a veteran of the United States Army having served during WWII and was retired from the Mail order Department of Sears in Atlanta, after forty plus years. Henry was a very independent person, he also enjoyed helping others in his neighborhood and his community.
He is survived by a special niece and nephew, Pat and Leonard Smith of Rocky Face; special nephew and niece, Wayne and Bobbie Arnold of Ringgold; brother-in-law, Kenneth Posey of Dalton; sister-in-law, Sybil Wood of Rocky Face and Graceline Wood of Dalton; numerous other nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews; special friends, Bill Roach and John King of Atlanta.
Funeral services will be at 2 P.M. Sunday in the Chapel of Love Funeral Home with the Rev. Dewey Boyd officiating.
Burial will be in Whitfield Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends at Love Funeral Home Saturday from 5 to 8 P.M.
