Mr. Glenn Franklin Collins, 89, of Dalton passed away Sunday, January 10, 2016 at his residence. He was the son of the late Robert and Prudie Trollinger Collins and was preceded in death by his wife, Jennie V. Ridley Collins; sisters, Mary Ruth Bryant, Mattie Lou Jones Defore and Olar Williams; brothers, Frank Collins, Robert Collins, Dalphus Collins and Ed Collins. Glenn was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in World War II. He was a deacon at Calvary Baptist Church was the longtime caregiver for his wife Jennie. He is survived by his children, Sandra and Dwight Hefner of Dalton, Beverly Painter of Hollywood, FL, Jerry Painter of Cohutta, Vickie and Roger Hobbs of Chatsworth; brothers, Earnest Collins of Resaca and Charles Raymond Roberts of Dalton; grandchildren, Shane(Stephanie) Belcher, Tiffany(Shawn) Teasley, Courtney(Zac) Brock, Charity Painter, Corey Painter, Tyler Painter, Jerod Hobbs, Derrick Hobbs, Steven(Brittany) Hobbs; great-grandchildren, Ethan, Skyler, Logan, Mason, Bentleigh, Briar, Stone, Copper, Elin and Bode; Glenn is also survived by his caregiver Linda Stegall who we sincerely thank for giving so much of herself to provide the care and attention our dad needed. We appreciate the dedication, compassion and grace she showed our dad through his aging process. We always knew he was in good hands and for that we are so grateful; nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Love Funeral Home with the Rev. Tommy Ridley officiating. Burial will be in West Hill Cemetery.
