On December 25, 2015, Stacy Terese Veasey passed peacefully, holding her husband's hand, while at Hospice Austin's Christopher House in Austin, Texas after a long struggle with Respiratory and Circulatory Diseases. Preceding her death, she had been surrounded by her husband, daughter, step-mother, aunt, sister, sister-in-laws and many friends. Stacy was 52 years old.
Stacy was born on April 12, 1963 in Washington, DC. She was the wife of John B Veasey and mother of Evelyn Nicole Veasey. Stacy graduated from Mt Ararat High School Topsham, ME in 1981 and received her Associates Degree from New Hampshire College in 1983. Stacy married her husband in August 1983. As a "Navy Wife", a title she bore proudly, she worked various jobs in the many towns where they lived, but her true calling was that of a loving wife and mother. She also volunteered much of her time to her daughter's schools, churches, girl scouts, and the Lions Club. Stacy loved singing, children, birds and animals. Stacy received the gift of life, a double lung transplant, in March 2005 and felt truly blessed to be the recipient of such a selfless offering. She was full of positive energy, had a beautiful smile, and always wanted to make sure that those around her were taken care of.
She was preceded in death by her father Charles Sumner Pettigrew Jr of Topsham, ME; mother Evelyn Claire Veno Pettigrew of Wakefield, MA; father-in-law Raymond Booth Veasey Jr and mother-in-law Lovella P Veasey both of Dalton, GA.
Stacy is survived by her husband John B Veasey of Spicewood, TX and daughter Evelyn Nicole Veasey of Spicewood, TX. She is also survived by her step-mother Elizabeth G Pettigrew of Topsham, ME; sister Amy Elizabeth Warner of Alna, ME; step-brothers William T Dupont of Topsham, ME, Lt Col (Ret) Phillip A Dupont and his wife Kelly of Fairfax Station, VA, Col Edward J Dupont and his wife Catie of Monrovia, Liberia, and Michael J Dupont of Bozeman, MT; brother and sister-in-law Bob and Susan Wright of Gainesville, GA and sister-in-law Mary Houston of Dalton, GA. Stacy also leaves behind 9 nieces and nephews and 2 great-nieces, as well as many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
There will be a celebration of life with burial service in Dalton, Georgia on Friday, January 22nd at 2pm. Services will be held in the West Hills Chapel located within the West Hills Cemetery, 725 West Cuyler Street, Dalton, Georgia. A reception will follow at St Mark's Episcopal Church, 901 W Emery Street, Dalton, Georgia from 3:30pm - 5pm.
