Mrs. Patricia Ann (Barnes) Bolden, 72, of Dalton, GA. passed away on Monday, April 20, 2009 following a lengthy illness. Mrs. Bolden was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Charles Edwin Bolden, Sr.
A native of Ellaville, GA. in Schley County, Patsy graduated from the University of Georgia where she was a member and officer of Alpha Gamma Delta sorority.
Mrs. Bolden was a member of Dalton First Methodist Church, a long time member of the Dalton Four Seasons Garden Club, United Methodist Women Circle, and served the community as a Salvation Army bell ringer, Better Infant Birth volunteer, and PTA president. Patsy began her career as an educator at Druid Hills High School in Decatur, GA., and later at the old Eastbrook High School in Dalton. She also served as school librarian at Tunnel Hill Elementary School. Patsy was also a real estate broker and owner of Jones Real Estate in Dalton.
Mrs. Bolden is survived by her five children, Charles Edwin Bolden, Jr. of Valdosta, GA. and daughter-in-law, Teresa Bolden, Thomas David Bolden of Jacksonville, FL. and daughter-in-law, Donna Bolden, Robert Edward Bolden of Marietta, GA., and identical twin daughters, Linda Susan Puryear and son-in-law, Dan Puryear of Asheville, NC., and Julia Elizabeth Helton (Betsy) and son-in-law, Scott Helton of Rocky Face, GA.; brother, Thomas Edward Barnes of Ellaville, GA.; 10 grandchildren, Thomas David Bolden, Jr. and Jennifer Brooke Bolden of St. Simon’s Island, GA., Jacob Cress Bolden of Fernindina, FL., Benjamin Charles Bolden of Valdosta, GA., Ashley Clarissa Bolden of Statesboro, GA., Zachary Thomas Puryear of Asheville, NC., John William Helton of Rocky Face, GA., Thomas Henry Helton of Rocky Face, GA., Alexander Charles Puryear of Asheville, NC., and Ella Mae Helton of Rocky Face, GA.; nephews, Charner Britton Barnes and William Height “Bo” Barnes both of Orlando, FL.
Funeral services for Mrs. Bolden will be held in the chapel of Dalton First United Methodist Church on Friday, April 24, 2009 at 3 P.M. with the Dr. Joe Peabody and the Rev. Billy Beard officiating.
The family will receive visitors in the atrium of the church from 1 to 3 P.M.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the Dalton First United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 627, Dalton, Ga. 30722.
