Mrs. Betty Lois (Langford) Martin, 72, of Dalton, went to meet her heavenly father on Friday, April 24, 2009 with her family at her bedside, after a brief illness with lung cancer.
She was a retired hairstylist of 25 years and was a faithful member of Calvary Baptist Church in Dalton, where she taught Sunday School for 20 years, and was active in the church choir, Awana’s and Bible School until her illness. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who loved her family dearly.
She is the daughter of the late, Rev. James A. and Bessie Steelmon Langford and was preceded in death by her brothers, Will Dee Langford and V.S. Langford; sisters-in-law, Frances Langford and Hazel Langford.
Betty leaves to cherish her memory, her loving husband of 50 years, Billy Martin of Dalton; daughter, Rhonda Segars of Ringgold; son and daughter-in-law, Marty and Anda Martin of Dalton; grandchildren, Cory Segars, Kyle Martin, Brittney and Robby Runyan; great-grandchildren, Isaac Phillips, Trenton Phillips, Gavin Runyan and Brinlee Runyan; brother, J.C. Langford; sisters and brother-in-law, Mildred Coley, Margie and Johnny Muse all of Dalton; sisters-in-law, Margaret Witt of Rainbow City, AL. and Neva Sane of Dalton; special cousin, Geraldine Sneed; special friend, Sue Chumley; her faithful dog, Oscar; and several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
Funeral services will be Monday at 2 P.M. from the Calvary Baptist Church with the Rev. Glen Cavin, the Rev. John Leatherwood and the Rev. Dan McNeese officiating.
Burial will follow in West Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Love Funeral Home Sunday from 3 to 9 P.M.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Calvary Baptist Church 2115 Murray Avenue, Dalton, Ga. 30721.
