Mrs. Mildred Stanfield Bartenfeld, 93, of Dalton passed away Friday, June 10, 2016 in Highlands, North Carolina.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, William Chelsea Bartenfeld, one brother, Charles R. Stanfield of Dalton, and sisters, Emma Harriet Burch of Douglasville, Ga. and Charlotte S. Elder of Panama City, Florida.
Mildred is survived by one son, Chelsea LeVone "Joe" and Charlotte Bartenfeld of Atlanta, Ga., one granddaughter, Dr. Emily Anne Black (Doug) of Gainesville, Ga; two great-granddaughters, Charlotte Black and Anna Black; numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
Mildred was born December 31, 1922 in Varnell, Georgia. After graduation from Varnell High School she taught school at Varnell Elementary and held several positions in the bedspread and carpet industry and was a regular at Millenders Department Store on Saturdays during the 1950"s. She retired from West Point Pepperell as a receptionist for the President. Mildred was a member of East Side Baptist Church dating from her marriage in 1941 until her passing.
Her family wishes to express their deepest gratitude to the Dalton community who have offered their thoughts and prayers during her extended illness.
Funeral services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Eastside Baptist Church with Dr. Aaron Jones officiating.
Burial will be in West Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Love Funeral Home on Tuesday from 9 to 10:30 a.m.
The family requests that flowers please be omitted and memorials may be made to East Side Baptist Church, P.O. Box 734, Dalton, Ga. 30722 or to one’s favorite charity.
