Mr. James T. “Jack” Whitlock, 88, of Dalton, passed away, Friday May 29, 2009 at Athens Regional Medical Center in Athens, GA.
Born in Indianapolis on October 21, 1920, he was the son of the late, James P. and Ethel Lassiter Whitlock.
Jack was a dedicated christian, husband, father, grandfather, and educator. He was a veteran of the United States Army and was a retired Administrator of the Dalton Public Schools.
Mr. Whitlock was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Summers Whitlock; sister, Naomi Baker.
He is survived by his wife, Gussie Amos Whitlock and family of Dalton; daughters and sons-in-law, Diane and Chuck Hill of Greensboro, GA., Donna and Mickey Jones of Chatsworth; sister, Lemma Keckley of Brentwood, TN.; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Jim and Ann Crabtree of Jasper, TN.; grandchildren, Chris Hill and his wife Erin, Jennifer Hill Marlar and her husband Mike, Mandi Jones Durham and her husband Brent, Matt Jones, Mitch Jones and his wife Kristen; great-grandchildren, Tucker Durham, Brentley Durham, Madeline Hill, Lilly Grace Marlar and Pressley Marlar; nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 3:30 P.M. Sunday at the Dalton First Baptist Church with Dr. Bill Wilson, the Rev. Phillip Cannon and the Rev. Larry Flanagan officiating.
Burial will be in Whitfield Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends in the atrium of the Church from 1:30 until the funeral hour at 3:30.
The family at ask that flowers please be omitted and memorials be made to the First Baptist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 827, Dalton, GA. 30722-0827.
