Vernon Cochran

Mr. Vernon V. Cochran, 94, of Dalton, passed away Saturday June 18, 2016 at Hamilton Medical Center. He was the son of the late, David Boone Cochran and Sara Luna Tarpley Cochran and was preceded in death by his brothers, Lee W. Cochran, R. Lacy Cochran, Wendell G. Cochran, Alden H. Cochran, Amos Bentley Cochran and a sister, Mavis Cochran Caldwell. Mr. Cochran was a member of the Merchant Marines, having served in active battle during World War II. He was a businessman in Dalton for many years, working at Chief Home and Auto, Cochran Radio and T.V. Repair and Fraker Hardware. Vernon was a Mason and a member of the V.F.W. He traveled the world extensively and loved sharing his adventures. He is survived by his wife Midori McDonald of Dalton; daughter and son-in-law, Candine (Candy) and Stan Ludwick of Pearland, TX, son Daniel Cochran and partner Curt Chezem of Richmond, TX and son Bob Langley of Daytona Beach, FL; step-child and her spouse, Margaret and Michael Glynn of Los Angeles, CA and step-child, Michelle Couch of Dalton; sister, Juanita Cochran Sealy of Florida; brother, Thayne Cochran of Cartersville, GA; grandchildren and spouse, Lauren and Lannas Barfield of Houston, TX, Jeffrey Ludwick of Pearland, TX and Lawson Couch of Dalton; great-grandchild, Eleanor Barfield of Houston; numerous nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Chapel of Love Funeral Home with Chaplain Jim Herman officiating. Burial will follow in Whitfield Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at Love Funeral Home on Wednesday from 11 a.m. until the funeral hour at 2 p.m. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Hamilton Hospice, P.O.
