Mr. Raymond A. “Shag” Phelps, 82, of Rocky Face passed away Tuesday, June 28, 2016. He was the son of the late Kelly and Monteen Phelps. Shag attended Mount Vernon United Methodist Church and was retired from the Dalton City Fire Department after approximately 30 years of service. He was active with senior softball and was a board member of the Whitfield County Saddle Club. Shag is survived by his wife, Mary Anne Holmes Phelps of Rocky Face; son and daughter-in-law, Kim and Lisa Phelps of Tunnel Hill; daughter, Paige Phelps Bunn of Tunnel Hill; grandchildren, Jordan and Mae Phelps, Molly Phelps, Kirbi and Keith Baldridge, and Baylee Brock; four great-grandchildren, A.J. Darden, Cash Parks, Briar Baldridge and Emma Baldridge; sister-in-law, Joyce Hicks of Tunnel Hill. Funeral services will be at 11 AM on Thursday in the Chapel of Love Funeral Home with the Rev. Tac Coley officiating. Burial will be in Whitfield Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 5 until 8 PM on Wednesday at Love Funeral Home. The family requests that in lieu of flowers memorials please be made to Whitfield County Saddle Club, PO Box 1053, Rocky Face, Ga 30740.
