John W. Ray Jr.

Mr. John W. Ray Jr, 83, of Dalton, passed away Sunday July 3, 2016 at Hamilton Medical Center. He was the son of the late John W. Ray Sr. and Bessie Logan Ray and was preceded in death by his wife, Fannie Armstrong Ray; granddaughter Katrina Etheridge and brothers and sisters. John was retired from the City of Dalton after 22 years. He is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law, Diane and Daniel Lawson of Dalton and Sue and Jackie Etheridge of Chatsworth; son John W. Ray III and Tanya of Jacksonville, FL; special companion, Peggy Hammontree of Dalton; grandchildren, Dr. Christy Kelly and Miles Kelly, John Michael Massingill and Shannon Massingill, Sabrina and Salter Stainton, Nathan and Sarah Lawson, Jonathon Ray; great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be Wednesday at 3 p.m. in the Chapel of Love Funeral Home with the Rev. Paul Armstrong officiating. Burial will follow in West Hill Cemetery.
