Mr. Clyde Hancel “Ace” Smith, 92, of Dalton passed away Saturday, July 16, 2016 at Quinton Memorial Healthcare.
He was born July 20, 1923, son of the late Eston and Lena Patterson Smith and was preceded in death by two brothers, four sisters and a niece and nephew.
Clyde was a veteran of the United States Navy serving in World War II aboard South Pacific on the LST 550. He moved to Dalton in 1949 and opened Ace Upholstery and later adding Ace Motor Company and was in business for over 50 years.
He is survived by his loving wife of 75 years, Emily Smith of Dalton; daughter and son-in-law, Clydine and Travis Tyson of Dalton; son and daughter-in-law, Dennis and Marie Smith of Dalton; grandchildren, Stacey and Stan Street, Lisa and Joey Jones, James T. Tyson II and Meredith Tyson, Chris and Mindy Smith, Chad and Britney Smith; great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews also survive.
The family would like to thank everyone at Quinton Memorial Healthcare and Hamilton Hospice for all their wonderful love and care.
Funeral services will be on Monday at 2 p.m. in the Chapel of Love Funeral Home with the Rev. Hugh Burdette officiating.
Burial will be in United Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends at Love Funeral Home on Monday from 12 to 2 p.m.
