Mr. Max Darwin Caylor, 82, of Dalton, Ga., died Thursday, April 13, 2006.
He was born in Whitfield County, son of the late, Charles A. Caylor and Winnie
Black Caylor and was preceded in death by his brother, Charles W. Caylor and his loving wife, Marian King Caylor in 2003.
Max was a 1943 graduate of Dalton High School and was named to the Tri-State
area football team. He veteran of the U.S. Army, he served in the 100th Division in W.W.II and received a Bronze Star for heroic action as well as two purple hearts. He retired from the U.S. Post Office in Dalton after approximately 38 years as a postal worker and rural mail carrier; Was Past Master of Pleasant Grove Lodge #702 and was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church, where he and his wife served as Youth Counselors for many years.
Max is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, the Rev. Max C. Caylor and Nellie Lou of Marietta, Ga. Grandchildren; Lt. Max E. Caylor and Brooke of Ft. Bragg, N.C. and Merry Grey Caylor of Marietta. Nephew; Charles W. Caylor, Jr.
Services will be Tuesday at 11 A.M. at the Trinity United Methodist Church with the Dr. Randy Healan officiating.
Burial will be in Whitfield Memorial Gardens with the American Legion Post #112 in charge of graveside rites.
The family will receive friends at the Love Funeral Home Monday from
5 to 8 P.M.
In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials be made to the Trinity United Methodist Church, 901 Veterans Drive, Dalton, Ga. 30721.
