Mr. Willard E. Strain, 92, of Dalton, passed away, Wednesday, July 15, 2009 at Hamilton Medical Center.
He was the son of the late, Elmer and Mildred Edwards Strain and was preceded in death by his son, Alan Lloyd Strain and brother, Charles Strain.
Willard served during World War ll in the Army-Air Force as a B-24 pilot.
He was a member of the Dalton First United Methodist Church and was owner of Strain Poultry Farm for 50 years.
Willard is survived by his loving wife of 71 years, Ivan Roach Strain of Dalton;
son and daughters-in-law, Lester and Nancy Strain of Dalton and Teresa Boozer of Dalton; sister, Jerrie Woodward of Atlanta; grandchildren, Kimberly Strain Mills and Michael of Marietta, Christopher E. Strain and Kate of Savannah, Leslie Strain Wilson and Richard of Atlanta, Alan Craig Strain and Stephanie of Dalton, Barry Andrew Strain of Atlanta; great-grandchildren, Alexander, Rainey, Chesley, Josephine, Lydia, Charles, Louis and James; nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be at 2:30 P.M. Sunday from the Dalton First United Methodist Church with Dr. Robin Lindsey and the Rev. Robert Thomason officiating.
Burial will follow in West Hill Cemetery with the American Legion Post 112 in charge of military rites.
The family will receive friends at the home of Willard and Ivan, 1508 Dug Gap Rd., Dalton, Saturday from 5 to 7 P.M.
The family ask that flowers please be omitted and memorials be made to the First United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 627, Dalton, GA. or to one’s favorite charity.
