Mrs. Caroline Sadacca Lorberbaum, of Dalton, GA., passed away July 19, 2009 at her residence, surrounded by her family. She was the daughter of the late Henri and Fifi Sadacca and was preceded in death by her sisters, May Penso and Roslyn Orman. Caroline is survived by her husband of 63 years, Leonard Lorberbaum and her children, Ralph and Jodie Lorberbaum of Savannah, GA.,
Henri and Debra Lorberbaum of Dalton and Stella and Mike McHugh of Dalton; grandchildren, Jennifer Lorberbaum, Scott Lorberbaum, Julie Lorberbaum, David and Stephanie Lorberbaum, Lane Lorberbaum, Kim Lorberbaum, Cari McHugh and Michael McHugh; nieces and nephews also survive.
Caroline was born April 23, 1923, in New York City. She graduated from New York University and then served as an officer in the United States Army during World War II as a professional dietician. After getting married in 1946, she and her husband moved to Dalton, where she lived the rest of her life raising a family.
She was one of the original founders of Cheerhaven and was the first director of admissions at Dalton Junior College. She also received a Masters of Education from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, TN. and was an active member of Temple Beth-El. Caroline loved to read and do needlepoint, but her main joy and love, was her family. She will always be remembered as a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and friend.
Services will be Tuesday at 2 P.M. in the chapel of Love Funeral Home in Dalton with Rabbi Bill Tepper of Chattanooga, TN. officiating.
The family will greet friends at 1:30 P.M. and the family request flowers please be omitted and memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 300 West Emery Street, Suite 106, Dalton, GA. 30720.
