Mr. G. Jerry King, 84, of Dalton passed away Friday, December 30, 2016 at his residence.
He was the son of the late Horace and Sara Metcalf King and was preceded in death by his brother, Vernon H. King and daughter-in-law, Donna Silvers King.
Jerry was a veteran of the United States Army and was president and general manager of C&S Block, where he worked from 1960 until his retirement in 1995. He was a graduate of Dalton High School and attended North Georgia College in Dahlonega. He was a member of the Dalton First Baptist Church and was a Mason and past president of the Dalton Shrine Club. He is also a former member of the board of directors of Dalton-Whitfield Chamber of Commerce and was a past member of the Emergency Medical Board at Hamilton Medical Center. He served many years on the board of the Georgia Concrete and Producers Association and was past president of the Masonry Division. He also was a past member of the Home Builders Association and Associate General Contractors.
He is survived by his loving wife, Pat Panter King of Dalton; sons and daughter-in-law, Steven Asa King and Rick and Ellen King all of Dalton; brother and sister-in-law, Jerome and Sandra King of Bend, OR; grandchildren, Courtney and Jack Hitchens and Andrew King; great-grandson, Jackson Hitchens; special caregivers, Martha Kennedy and Joan Pratt both of Dalton.
Funeral services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. in the Chapel of Love Funeral Home with the Rev. Phillip Cannon officiating.
Burial will be in Whitfield Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends at Love Funeral Home on Wednesday from 12 to 2 p.m.
The family requests that flowers please be omitted and memorials be made to the Shriners Children’s Hospital, P.O. Box 1571, Dalton Ga. 30722.
