Mark A. Burnett, 56, left us to find our own way on January 4, 2017.

He was the son of the late Reg Burnett and is survived by his mother, Pat Burnett; beloved son, Levi D. Carroll; sisters, Nancy Burnett, and Kathleen Tancrede; brother in law, Tinker Tancrede; extended family, Jean Burnett, Debra Prevesk, Denise Newton, Daniel Newton and Deanne Lyon. Also surviving are two uncles, Chuck Elmes (Sherry) and Richard Elmes (Judy); aunt, Kathleen Millman; cousins, Betsy Keller (David), David Millman (Gill) and Anne Margetts (Richard). Special thanks to caregiver Christie Bryant.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, John and Mabel Burnett, George and Alice Elmes and cousin, Chris Elmes.

Mark attended Dalton High School and Auburn University. He was honorably discharged from the US Navy. Mark was a larger than life mentor, friend and brother to hundreds of lucky people around the world and left this world a better place for his existence. He lived life on his own terms and left it the same way.

Mark will be cremated and a service to celebrate his life will be held in the parlor of Love Funeral Home in Dalton, Georgia on Wednesday, January 11, 2017 at 7 PM. He will be interred with his grandparents at Maple Hill in Huntsville, Alabama.

The family will receive friends prior to the service on Wednesday from 5 until 7 PM.
