Mary Jo Akins

Miss Mary Jo Akins, 77, of Chatsworth, GA. died Saturday, August 8, 2009 at her home.
She felt her calling in life was to be a caregiver and bring comfort to those who were suffering. She fulfilled her mission and God called her home.
She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Mose and Mildred Elrod Akins; sisters, Edith Akins, Johnnie Cartledge, Betty Bennett; brother-in-law, Benny Bennett; and brothers, L.W. “Dub” Akins and James Bert “J.B.” Akins.
Mary Jo is survived by her sister, Billie Jean Akins, nieces, Sheila and Teresa Cartledge, brother-in-law, Claude W. Cartledge all of Chatsworth; special nephews, Claude T. Cartledge and his wife, Diane of Chatsworth, Bobby Cartledge and his wife, Cindy of Dalton; other survivors include nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews, great-great-nieces and nephews, a host of relatives, friends and special friend, Gene Bond of Eton.
Services will Wednesday at 2 P.M. in the Chapel of Love Funeral Home with Mary Jo’s beloved nephew, Bobby Cartledge and the Rev. Wayne Hall officiating.
Burial will follow in West Hill Cemetery with Claude T., Bobby , Micha, Jody, Cameron Cartledge and Gerald Bennett, Mary Jo’s nephews and great-nephews, serving as pallbearers. Nephews and the Trailblazin’ Christian Bikers will serve as honorary pallbearers, with the Trailblazin’ Christian Bikers leading the procession to the cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Love Funeral Home Monday after 5 P.M. and all day Tuesday.
