Marion Claudette Shaheen

May 19, 1936 — January 13, 2017

Mrs. Marion Claudette Shaheen, of Dalton passed away Friday, January 13, 2017 at Emory Johns Creek Hospital. The day has arrived that my family had to say goodbye to our Mom. The woman God chose to birth life to all 6 of us. The woman who loved us, cared for us, nourished and nurtured us. The woman who extended her arms of kindness and love to those different from her. The woman who enjoyed people and brought joy to those she met. Our Mom was a woman who loved God and lived to serve Him the best she knew how. A woman who exemplified strength and courage during the most painful of losses that shattered her heart. A woman who defied cultural standards to leave her familiar life to embrace the man she loved, his family and culture. Mom showed us how to embrace those who are different from ourselves and to see them with the eyes of our heart rather than the eyes of understanding. Our heavenly Father blessed us with a unique, beautiful, loving Mom and we are the women He has created us to be partly from her. Praise the Lord for His goodness and mercy chasing us all the days of our life, that we will dwell in the house of the Lord forever, Psalm 23:6. She was the daughter of the late Jessie Myers and Aloe Marie Scott Allmon and was preceded in death by the father of her children, Abe Shaheen; daughters, Cindy Shaheen Briggs and Karen Shaheen Eleton; nephew, Donnie Dalrymple and a great-nephew, Derek Simmons. Claudette was a member of Kingdom-Hall Jehovah Witness. She was a loving mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother and aunt. She loved gardening, working in her yard and spending time with her family. Claudette is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, DeDe and Lewis Woody of Newnan, GA; Chrissie Shaheen of Dalton, Staci and Michael Douglas of Dalton and Leslie and Bo Ollinger of Tucker, GA; Identical twin sister and brother-in-law, Barbara Yvonne and Jim Owen; grandchildren, Christopher Shaheen Burkhardt, Sydney Sauls, John Woody, Katie Woody, Mari Douglas, Eli Ollinger and Lily Anna Ollinger; great-grandchild, M. J. Burkhardt; niece and nephew, Susie (Clay) Simmons and Jeff Dalrymple; great-nephew, Colt Simmons; special cats, William and Harry. At Claudette's request she will be cremated and a private memorial service will be held.
