James "Guss" Jordan Jr.

James Augustus “Guss” Jordan Jr, 87, of Dalton passed away on Thursday, February 9, 2017.

He was the son of the late Guss Jordan Sr. and Julia Gilbert Jordan and was preceded in death by his sisters and brothers-in-law, Melba and Ronald Baker, Evelyn and Wallace Douglas; father-in-law and mother-in-law, G.W. ‘Jack” Gregg and Bernice Redwine Gregg; brothers-in-law, Jack W. Hayes and Robert Gregg; sister-in-law, Fran Gregg and niece, Connie Hayes Sanders.

Guss is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Katherine Gregg Jordan; daughters and sons-in-law, Jane and Tommy Boggs and Nancy and Rob Estes all of Dalton; grandchildren, Matthew and Jamie Boggs of Phoenix, AZ, Mitchell and Lele Boggs and Andrew Estes all of Dalton and Will Estes of Chattanooga, TN; great-grandchildren, Aiden Boggs and Lilia Boggs of Phoenix, AZ. and Mitchell Boggs Jr. of Dalton;

Other family members surviving Guss are, brother and sister-in-law, Lamar and Carol Jordan; sister-in-law, Vivian Hayes; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Richard and Nancy Gregg of Rocky Face, Jerry and Linda Gregg of Franklin, TN. and Joyce Gregg of Calhoun; nephews, Michael Douglas, Gregg Hayes, Doug Hayes, Scott Gregg, Rick Gregg, Steve Gregg, Brad Gregg, Michael Gregg, Jason Gregg and Alex Gregg.

Funeral services celebrating the life of Guss Jordan Jr. will be held at Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church on Sunday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Phillip Cannon and the Rev. Chris Mullis officiating.

Burial will be in West Hill Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at Love Funeral Home on Saturday from 3 to 6 p.m.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church, 2701 Cleveland Hwy, Dalton Ga. 30721.
