Howard Cecil Nesmith

Mr. Howard Cecil NeSmith, 87, of Dalton passed away on Thursday, April 6, 2017 at Hamilton Medical Center.

He was the son of the late Elander James NeSmith and Odell Williams NeSmith and was preceded in death by his first wife, Marie Wood NeSmith; brother, Oscar NeSmith and sister, Mim NeSmith Williamson.

Cecil is survived by his wife, Betty Mavity NeSmith of Dalton; children, Susan NeSmith Muia (Tom) of Dalton, Howard (Karla) Mavity of Atlanta and Steve (Donna) Mavity of Thomasville, GA; grandchildren, Brian (Betsy) Muia of Dunwoody, GA, Beth (Doug) Kappauff of Cumming, GA, Mosisah Mavity, Hannanel (Trey) Jackson and Benjamin Mavity all of Thomasville, GA, Megan Mavity and William Mavity both of Atlanta; great-grandchildren, Thomas Muia, Campbell Muia, Michael Kappauff, Hannah Kappauff and Nina Kappauff; brother, Irvan NeSmith of Coolidge, GA and sister, Myrtle Lofton of Moultrie, GA; nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be on Saturday at 4 p.m. in the chapel of Love Funeral Home with the Rev. Phillip Cannon officiating.

Burial will be in Whitfield Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends at Love Funeral Home on Saturday from 3 to 4 p.m.
