Mr. James Thomas (J.T.) Shepherd, 91, of Rocky Face died Saturday, April 8, 2017. He was born in Rocky Face on January 26, 1926 to the late John and Nettie Holt Shepherd. He was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Alwilda Gilbreath Shepherd in Dec. 2016., brothers, Julian Shepherd, Harold Shepherd and Talmadge Shepherd; sisters, Frances Clements, Evelyn Weaver, Martha Morrison; son-in-law, Tommy McTee; great-grandson, Joshua Thomas Nix. James was a member of Central Church of Christ. He served his country in the United States Navy on the USS LST 483 and LST 757 during World War II in the South Pacific. He enjoyed fishing and raising a big garden in the summer for his family to enjoy, especially Big Boy tomatoes. James is survived by his daughters and son-in-law, Jan McTee of Rocky Face, Judy and Tommy Hoffpauir of Ooltewah, TN; son and daughter-in-law, Jeff and Janet Shepherd of Dalton; grandchildren, Heath (Kate) Perkins of Jacksonville, FL, Justin (Rebecca)Perkins of Rome, GA, Bethany (Andy) Nix of Gainesville, GA, Eli (Betsy) McTee of Spring Hill, TN, Sophia and Parker Shepherd of Dalton, Abbi Hoffpauir of Austin, TX, Tad (Kathleen) Hoffpauir of Spring Hill, TN; great-grandchildren, Carter and Hannah Perkins of Jacksonville, Ellie and Heidi Perkins of Rome, Camille and Andrew Nix of Gainesville, Lennox and Holt McTee of Spring Hill and Adair and Emery Hoffpauir of Spring Hill; brother and Sister-in-law, Larry (Joanne) Shepherd of Rocky Face; nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Chapel of Love Funeral Home with Ross Jordan officiating. Burial will follow in Whitfield Memorial Gardens with American Legion Post #112 in charge of graveside rites. The family will receive friends at Love Funeral Home on Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Central Church of Christ, P.O.
