Virginia Dare Bartenfeld was born December 14, 1932, and was the sixth daughter of the late Nancy Stella Bartenfeld and Charles Alexander Bartenfeld Jr. Virginia went to join her Savior on Sunday, September 3, 2017. She was also preceded in death by her sisters and brothers-in-law, Margaret Rich (Frank), Charlotte Chapman (Arthur) and Tommie Lee Beach (Cody). Virginia is survived by her sisters, Hazel Jeanette Morgan (Ray – deceased) and Stella Lankford (H.L. – deceased), as well as cousins and too many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews to mention individually. Those helping with her care were Billy Chapman, Carol Souther, Darlene Guinn, Nancy Keeter, David Lankford, Hunter Guinn and several other nieces and nephews. Virginia never played favorites and loved all of her sisters and nieces and nephews who are left to cherish her and hold onto their memories. Virginia has always been very active in her professional life, and worked in the carpet industry as bookkeeper and accountant for several companies. She retired after 40 years with Dorsett Carpet Mills. Her mentor and boss was Stan Goodroe, of whom she thought the world. While working, Virginia had the opportunity to travel extensively while a member of the Professional Secretaries International organization and had the pleasure of seeing many countries and many states in the USA. She and her friends Mary Duncan and Jo Parrott enjoyed traveling to Williamsburg, Virginia to stay with her niece Dianne Hardie and husband, T.J. Hardie, annually for at least 22 years. For the past ten years, Virginia attended Fuller’s Chapel Methodist Chruch with her sister, Jeanette Morgan, and really missed church services the last year. Even though she couldn’t get to church, she kept faith in the Lord. Virginia loved her caregiver, Louise Dutton. Virginia’s family want to thank her for allowing Virginia’s time homebound to be as comfortable as was possible. Services for Virginia will be held on Thursday at 11 a.m. in the Chapel of Love Funeral Home with Pastor Jim Riley officiating. Burial will be in West Hill Cemetery with Billy Chapman, Jim Rich, Ray Morgan, David Lankford, Sean Souther, Gary Ray Chapman and Richard Lankford(honorary) serving as pallbearers.
