Mrs. Lillie Slaton Boyd,100,of Dalton, died Tuesday, May 23, 2006 in Hamilton Medical Center.
Lillie was born July 21, 1905 in Monroe County TN., and moved to Whitfield County at the age of five.
She has been a long-time member of Poplar Springs Baptist Church, where she taught children in Sunday School for many years and was loved so much by so many children.
She also worked for several years as a childcare worker at First Baptist in Mother’s Morning Out and continued to impact the lives of children. She made sure the water was on the podium for the pastor for many years. She was a hard worker and enjoyed gardening and cooking for her family.... especially her famous apple pie.
When she was young she worked at Crown Cotton Mill and later hand tufted bedspreads at home, at the very start of the chenille industry. Later she worked many years in the spread and robe industry at several different Manufacturing companies in Dalton.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Fred Boyd.
Lillie is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Vernon and Delores Boyd, James W. Boyd, Robert and Henrietta Boyd all of Dalton.
Daughter and son-in-law, Betty and Robert Ellis of Dalton.
Six Grandchildren, Susan and Rick Kearney, Earl Boyd, Sharon and Brad Williams, Laura Ellis, Bryan and Jennifer Boyd, Paul and Lexi Boyd.
Eight Great-Grandchildren, Lindsey Boyd, Tyson Williams, Sarah Kathryn Williams, Brandon Boyd, Logan Boyd, Bradley Williams, Carter Williams, Samuel Kearney.
Nieces and nephews.
Many special Friends.
Services will be Thursday at 11 A.M. in the Chapel of Love Funeral Home with the Rev. Walter Hare officiating.
Burial will follow in Poplar Springs Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Love Funeral Home Wednesday from 5 to 8 P.M.
In Lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Poplar Spring Baptist Church, 897 Poplar Springs Rd., Dalton, GA. 30721
