Mr. Felix Lamar Hewitt, 76, of Dalton passed away on Monday, September 11, 2017 at home surrounded by family and friends. He was the son of the late Felix and Lucy Griffin Hewitt and was preceded in death by his son, Bradley Duncan Hewitt in November of 2003, grandson, Gregory Allen Hewitt Jr. in October of 2003 and his grandmother, Ollie Griffin in November 2003. He was an avid fisherman and hunter and loved to garden. He is survived by his wife, Mary Hewitt of Dalton; sons, Sparky Lamar Hewitt of Dalton and Gregory Allen Hewitt of Dalton; grandchild, Alaina Hewitt of Dalton; brother, Kim (Penny) Hewitt of Dalton; sister, Sharlene (Willard) Foster of Dalton; special niece, Pamela Long; special friend, Kirby Hyde. The family would like to thank the staff of Homestead Hospice; Christie Moore, Debbie Rittenhouse, Jenn Minten, Mary Cates, Tracy Satterfield, Sam Stover, Jennifer Evans, Tonya Cook and Christy Holmes. Funeral services will be held at 2 PM on Wednesday in the chapel of Love Funeral Home with Jim Jolly and the Rev. Walter Jones officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service on Wednesday from 11:30 AM until 2 PM. Lamar’s ashes will later be scattered in his garden. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105. Words of comfort may be sent to the family at www.lovefuneralhomega.com.
