Willie Mae Smithey Ledford

Willie Mae Smithey Ledford, 87, of Dalton, GA departed this life peacefully on September 29, 2017 surrounded by her loving family.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Reverend Ralph J. Ledford; sons, Larry Ledford and Stevie Ledford; grandchildren, Mark Twain Pratt and Jaclyn Ledford; parents, George and Bertha Smithey; brothers, George Smithey and JC Smithey; sister, Linda Brown.

She is survived by her children, Jack (Martha) Ledford of Clinton, TN, Kay (Tommy) Pratt of Resaca, Henry (Dennita) Ledford of Dalton, Yvetta (Delane) Mathis of Chatsworth, Pam (Marty) Akins of Dalton, Cindy (Bobby) Cartledge of Dalton, Brent (Stacey) Ledford of Dalton, and Beverly Ledford Tidwell of Calhoun. She is also survived by 28 grandchildren; 46 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Evelyn Roberts; several nieces and nephews; a special friend, Frances Miles; a host of other family and friends.

She was a lifelong member of The Church of God of the Union Assembly where she dedicated her life to God and helping others. She loved to knit and sew for everyone and when you went to her home she was always happy to share her latest beautiful works of love.

Her viewing will be at Love Funeral Home on Saturday from 5 until 9.

Her life's celebration will be Sunday, October 1 at 2pm at The Church of God of the Union Assembly with Reverends Charlie Pratt and Paul Thomas Hughes officiating.

Her grandsons are honored to serve as pallbearers for their dear, sweet Mamaw.

She is loved and missed by all.
