Harry E. Gordon

June 30, 1926 — October 6, 2017

Mr. Harry E Gordon, 91, of Tunnel Hill, passed away Friday October 6, 2017 at Hamilton Medical Center.

He was born in Henderson County North Carolina to the late Jesse and Edna Staton Gordon. He has lived in Tunnel Hill for the last 65 years. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather.

Harry was a veteran of WWII and served as a Baptist deacon for 39 years. He enjoyed gardening and was a talented wood worker.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Sue Quinton Gordon; brother, Dewey Gordon and a sister, Betty Ballard.

Harry is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law, Michael E. and Paula Gordon of Rocky Face, Douglas L. and Darlene Gordon of Anniston, AL and James Q and Ginelle Gordon of Tulsa, OK; 6 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. Also two very respected Christian brothers, Donny Jones of Rocky Face and Chris Cook of Tunnel Hill.

A memorial celebration will be at 11 a.m. Monday from Rocky Face Baptist Church with the Rev. Lamar Wadsworth and the Rev. Van Smith officiating.

The family will receive friends at Love Funeral Home on Sunday from 2 until 5 p.m.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Georgia Baptist Children’s Home, P.O. Box 329, Palmetto, GA 30268.
