Leonard Earl "Hot Shot" Smith

Mr. Leonard Earl “Hot Shot” Smith, 83, of the Mill Creek Community passed away on Thursday, December 14, 2017 at his home.

He was the son of the late Asberry Nelson and Dazzie King Smith and was preceded in death by his brothers and sisters, Oscar Smith, Pearl Plantzer, Tennie Mae Morgan, Henry Smith, John Smith, Louise Hooker, and A.N. Smith Jr.

He was a longtime member and Deacon of Mill Creek Baptist Church, started the RA Program in 1974 and cooked Brotherhood Breakfast for years. He lived in the Mill Creek Community for 52 years. He served in the US Army for 8 years, serving in Korea, Japan and Tacoma WA. He always asked people he met “Where did you go to church this Sunday”? He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He loved to garden.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia Ruth Arnold Smith; children, Cynthia and John Carroll of Cartersville, Donna K and Donald Jones of Rocky Face, Scott Smith of Rocky Face, and Christina and Danny Powell of Cleveland; grandchildren, David Burkett, Caroline and Nathan Wooten, Stephen and Hannah Jones, Amanda and Rick Hartley, Michael Carroll, Nicholas and Jacqueline Carroll, Michele and D.J. Johnson, and Joshua Powell; great-grandchildren, Erin, Kylee, Landon and Cole Wooten, Sydnee and Cabe Jones, Gage Caraway and Mason Hartley; brother, James and Audra Smith; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Sandra Arnold and Wayne and Bobbie Arnold; special nephew, Chuck Arnold

Funeral services will be held at 2 PM on Sunday at Mill Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. Keely Hasty, the Rev. Dewey Boyd, the Rev. Scott Smith and the Rev. George Ross officiating. Burial will follow in Mill Creek Baptist Church Cemetery with David Burkett, Stephen Jones, Michael Carroll, Nicholas Carroll, Joshua Powell and Chuck Arnold serving as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends on Saturday from 5 until 9 PM at Love Funeral Home.

The family requests no fresh flowers, please send silk or potted plants or memorials to the Mill Creek Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, P.O Box 178, Rocky Face, GA 30740.
