Mr. James P. “Buddy” White, 88, of Dalton passed away Sunday, January 7, 2018 at Hamilton Medical Center. He was the son of the late Ernest B. and Ludie Tate White. James was owner and operator of the U.S. Cafe and was a member of the East Ridge Masonic Lodge 755. He was a veteran of the United States Army serving in the Korean War and was a member of the Dalton First United Methodist Church for 50 years. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend. James is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Phyllis Head White of Dalton; sons and daughter-in-law, Steve Sr. and Melissa White of Rocky Face and David White of Dalton; sister, Opal Joyce Thomas of Dalton; grandchildren, Steve Jr. and Katie White of Jackson, WY, Andy and Stacey White of Signal Mountain, TN, Taylor and Elizabeth White of Chatsworth, Michael White of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, Jordan and Jacqui White of Wilmington, NC, Tyler Greene and Haley Greene of Atlanta and Matthew White of Auburn, AL; great-grandchildren, Sara, Katelynn and James Danny “J.D.” White of Jackson, WY, Will and Walker White of Signal Mountain, TN, Skye Jackson White of Wilmington, NC, Hunter, Abigail and Mason McCree of Chatsworth; nieces and nephew. Services will be on Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the Dalton First United Methodist Church with Dr. Tommy Willingham officiating. Burial will be in West Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends in the atrium of the church on Tuesday from noon until the service at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be made to the Dalton First United Methodist Church, 500 N. Thornton Ave, Dalton Ga. 30720 or to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis TN. 38105.
