Mr. Arthur William “Bunky” Lindsey Jr, 78, of Ellijay and formerly of Dalton passed away early on Monday, February 19, 2018 from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
He was the son of the late A.W. “Ott” Lindsey and Georgia Lindsey and was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Ione Campbell Lindsey in 2016.
Bunky was a graduate of the ’57 class of North Whitfield High School and a graduate of Auburn University with dual engineering degrees. He served in the United States Army, where he flew helicopters during the Vietnam War. He was also a helicopter instructor at Ft. Rucker, Alabama.
He worked and lived in Weatherford, Texas for 30 years for Lockheed Martin and General Dynamics and retired to the North Georgia Mountains of Ellijay, Georgia.
He is survived by his sons and daughter-in-law, William Lawrence “Lonnie” Lindsey of Ellijay and Kevin and Sabrina Lindsey of North Richard Hills, TX; grandsons, Sterling, son of Lonnie and Tracey Lindsey, and Keelan and Aiden Lindsey, sons of Kevin and Sabrina, all from Texas; sister and brother-in-law, Mary Jo Lindsey Cockburn and Steven Cockburn of Ellijay; nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at Love Funeral Home Thursday from 2 to 3:30 p.m.
Graveside services will follow Thursday at 4 p.m. at West Hill Cemetery with American Legion Post 112 in charge of graveside rites.
