Mr. Roy Horace Pollard, 90, of Dalton, loving husband and father, died Monday, July 10, at home surrounded by his family, He was the son of the late, Grady H. and Dicy E. Pollard of Bremen.
Roy was a former long-time Deacon, choir member and Sunday School director of the First Baptist Church of Dalton. He was active for several years in the Dalton Kiwanis Club, and during his career in Dalton, was head of commercial tire sales for B. F. Goodrich. Mr. Pollard also served in the Navy during World War II.
Roy is survived by his wife of 67 years, Bonnell Morgan Pollard of Dalton, sister Aline Verlander of Peachtree City, GA., son and daughter-in-law, Wayne and Mary Pollard of Dalton, daughter and son-in-law, June and Jerry Phillips of Kennesaw, Ga, daughter and son-in-law, Patsy and Reynold Jennings of Kennesaw, GA.
He is also survived by 7 Grandchildren and 9 Great-Grandchildren.
The family receive friends on Wednesday, July 12th from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. in the Parlor of First Baptist Church of Dalton. Services will be Wednesday, July 12th at11:00 A.M. in the Chapel of First Baptist Church with the Rev. William G. (Bill) Wilson and the Rev. Larry Flanagan officiating. The family will also receive friends immediately following the service in the church parlor.
Burial will follow in Whitfield Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, the family ask for donations to be made to the First Baptist Church of Dalton’s music and library funds, P.O. Box 827, Dalton, Ga. 30722.
Honorary pallbearers will be the Gene Kirk Sunday School Class and the Scrap Iron Sunday School Class of the First Baptist Church of Dalton.
