Mr. Charles William Webb, 85 of Dalton, passed away, Saturday, August 12, 2005.
He was born in Polk County, Tn to the late, William Walter and Olivie Estell (Balliew) Webb and was the last surviving member of his family.
Charles was retired from the United States Army after 22 years of service having served in World War II and the Korean War. Also was a member of the 10th Mountain Division.
He then enrolled in the University of Maryland with the aimed at a Master of Military Science, then changed his major to Education with a major in Industrial arts and earned a B. S. in Education with a major in Industrial Arts from the University of Georgia. Entered Public education and taught at Fort Hill Jr. High School and Dalton Jr. High School for 16 years.
Charles was a very active member of the Dalton First Baptist Church, he was a Deacon (Active and inactive). And was editor of the Senior Adults Monthly Newsletter for 12 years.
He wrote weekly columns for the Daily Citizen-News for 9 years and was a contributing columnist, titled “One Mans Opinion” for 21 years.
He is survived by his wife loving of 65 years, Loraine (Johnson) Webb of Dalton.
Daughter and son-in-law, Elizabeth Lynn and Harold Loghry of Dalton.
Granddaughter, Meghan Loraine Loghry of Dalton.
Nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be Wednesday at 2 P.M. in the Chapel of the First Baptist Church with the Rev. Larry Flanagan officiating.
The family will receive friends at Love Funeral Home Tuesday from 5 to 7 P.M.
The family ask that flower please be omitted and memorials be made to the First Baptist Church, Scrap Iron Class, P.O. Box 827, Dalton, GA. 30722.
