Mrs. Jennie L. Larimer, 67, of Dalton passed away Tuesday, August 22, 2006.
Mrs. Larimer was born February 26, 1939 in Tazewell, Virginia. She is the daughter of the late Thomas Pierce and Felicia Lockhart and was preceded in death by her brothers, Tom, John, Dave and Link Lockhart and sister, Louise Drozd.
Jennie was a part of the Dalton Public School systems for over 31 years. She loved being involved with the inner workings of the school system, the children and it was the place where she made a lot of lifelong friends.
Survivors include her husband of 49 years, William Larimer of Dalton; son, Tom Larimer of Marietta, Ga.; daughter, Lisa Larimer Wood of Dalton; grandson, Mason Wood of Dalton; sister, Mary Elizabeth Munsey of Atlanta, Ga. and her husband John; niece, Betsy Fenton and family of Atlanta, Ga.; mother-in-law, Katherine Larimer Correll of Tazewell, Va.; brother and sisters-in-laws, David and Lynne Larimer of Tazewell, Va., Betty and Sam Larimer of Barnesville, Ga.; several nieces and nephews. In life, there are special people that cross your path that are as much like family as your own. For Jennie, those people included Ellen Mays Bailey, George Jones, Peggy Holmes, Lorie McCamy, O.G., Martha Morrison, the friends she had in the Dalton Public School system especially Dalton Middle School and the friends she loved and thoroughly enjoyed spending time with at the Dalton Elks Club. She had so many people she loved and that loved her, there is no way to mention them all.
Jennie was an artistic, strong-spirited, genuine, kind, elegant and extremely generous woman that touched so many lives. To her immediately family, she was the bond that kept them together with her strength, courage and love. She was their heart and soul. Her wonderful spirit will live forever within them all.
Services to celebrate the life of Jennie Larimer will be held Saturday at 11 A.M. at the First Presbyterian Church of Dalton, Ga. with Rev. Tyler Downing, Timothy McIntosh and John McDonald officiating.
Burial will be in the Whitfield Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.
The family will receive friends at Love Funeral Home Friday from 5 to 7 P.M.
