Mr. Neely MacFadden Hollis, 82, of Dalton passed away Sunday, May 23, 2010 at Hamilton Medical Center.
He was the son of the late Dan Saye Hollis and Maude MacFadden Hollis of Rock Hill, South Carolina and was preceded in death by one brother , four sisters and his first wife, Dorothy Steele Hollis.
Mack was a graduate of Clemson University with a degree in textile chemistry, and in 1949 began his career in the textiles industry with Spring Mills. In 1976, he moved to Dalton as district manager of Crompton & Knowles Dyes and Chemicals. He was an avid golfer and a passionate Clemson supporter throughout his life. Mack was also a member of the Rotary Club, a mason, a deacon at the Ebenezer Presbyterian Church in Rock Hill and a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Dalton.
Mack is survived by his wife, Lillian Hollis of Dalton; children, Neel and Cheryl Hollis, Kathy James and Susan Moore; step-children, Mac and Lucy Lumpkin, Berrien and Mickey Long, Pete and Debbie Lumpkin, Alice and Doug Ensley; sister, Martha Hollis Williams; grandchildren, Hollis, Neely and Stuart Moore, Anne and Drain Oliphant, Brandon and William James, Elizabeth and Josh Boltinhouse and Mack Hollis, III; step-grandchildren, Jo Beth and Chad Thompson, Lilly Long, Collier and Kate Lumpkin, Mimi and Emma Ensley.
Memorial services will be Tuesday at 2 P.M. from the First Presbyterian Church of Dalton with Dr. Mickey Shealy and the Rev. Tyler Downing officiating.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 1 to 2 P.M. in the Narthex of the First Presbyterian Church.
The family asks that flowers please be omitted and memorials made to the First Presbyterian Church, 510 South Tibbs Rd., Dalton, Ga. 30720.
